Therapeutic Ultrasound

Ultrasound treatment to an ankle ligament strain   Ultrasound therapy has been used in physiotherapy for over 50 years. It uses sound waves to help optimize the healing process. The ultrasound waves are produced by electricity hitting a pizeoelectric crystal within the head of the ultrasound machine. This produces a vibration / sound wave. For the ultrasound to be transmitted effectively into the injured area a transmission gel must be used. This is a hypo allergenic anti bacterial gel. As it is just a sound wave the patient does not feel very much while having the ultrasound treatment- just the movement of the ultra sound head. If it is a long duration treatment a mild heat may be felt. Most treatments last under 5 minutes.
