Tendons connect muscles to bones. Tendonitis is an inflammation causing heat pain and swelling along a tendon.  Common tendons affected are at the shoulder [rotator cuff tendonitis], the wrist/thumb area[De Quevrains tendonitis] and the ankle [achilles tendonitis]. It is usually causes by poor or faulty biomechanics and sometimes by trauma.

PHYSIOTHERAPY

A detailed history will be taken folowed by a biomechanical assessment to determine the cause of the problem.

Treatment may involve therapeutic exercise, ergonomic advise, biomechanical correction[e.g. prescription orthotics/ insoles for leg tendonitis] as well as pain relieving mdalities such as ultrasound, interferential, heat and ice.
